Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference centre leads the way in Smart Staffing

LONDON, UK – 14 September 2018. Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, Birmingham’s new four-star hotel and conference centre, is deploying cutting-edge digital technology as part of its HR and operations strategies.
Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre is using the Catapult online platform to find skilled local people for part-time shifts in front of house, concierge, conference, and food and beverage roles.
Catapult was introduced as the online staffing platform as an integral part of Edgbaston recruitment strategy following its official opening on Saturday 1 September 2018. Catapult uses artificial intelligence to match part-time people to the perfect part-time jobs in the hospitality and retail sectors.
Recently appointed Conference and Banqueting Manager Michael Cunningham said: “Ensuring we can meet the needs of our guests is paramount at all times, but never more so than during our opening period. By using Catapult we are building a workforce of qualified, local, part-time people who can take up shift work when it’s right for them. At the same, it gives us the flexibility to staff up during peak periods and achieve the perfect staffing balance to provide a first-class service at all times.”
Michael Cunningham chose Catapult having signed up to the platform as a candidate. ‘I used Catapult to find flexible work myself before taking up the post at Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre. I worked some great shifts in the local area, working with many of the same people. Having spent my entire career in the hospitality sector, over 16 years, it’s great to have the technology in your hands to find skilled part-timers when you need them.”
The 185-bedroom Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre is located at the University of Birmingham’s main campus and includes two listed buildings.
The Catapult online platform provides part-time workers with access to top brands across the UK and uses advanced AI to match shifts to their skills, enabling them to choose where, when and how often they work. Behind the technology, Catapult’s 50-strong team is available 24/7 to make every shift a success.
By using Catapult to favourite and share their experiences, Catapult learns what workers and employers like, which in turn, is building the UK’s first truly mobile, skilled and motivated workforce for retail and hospitality. The app is free for workers. Employers pay a small commission on shifts booked via the online platform. www.joincatapult.com
